Jocelyn joined MnTAP in June of 2024 as the Communication Specialist for both MnTAP and the Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center (UMASH). While her training and education was focused on health equity and evaluation, she quickly learned how important communication skills are to ensuring that businesses, community members, and people outside of academia can benefit from research findings and best practices. Jocelyn’s work in MnTAP includes creating reliable and creative ways, such as newsletters or educational materials, for more Minnesotans to learn about the great work that MnTAP staff are carrying out.
Prior to joining MnTAP, Jocelyn has worked as a facilitator, evaluator, qualitative researcher, and policy wonk in a variety of topic areas including houselessness in Minnesota, Black wealth building, health equity as it relates to public transit, governmental public health, and climate change’s impact on mental health. She was first introduced to working on environmental and water pollution issues while she was a participatory engagement coordinator at Freshwater Society, and she worked on One Watershed, One Plan efforts in the St. Louis River and Snake River watersheds.
