2008 Summer Intern Projects

Learn more about pollution prevention and energy efficiency solutions from students participating in the 2008 Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) intern program.

Students worked with the following companies:

  • Atritech, Inc., Plymouth: developed new packaging concept to reduce medical device packaging waste. 2008 student presentation.
  • Granite Falls Energy, LLC, Granite Falls: conducted energy efficiency analysis of various parts of the ethanol plant. 2008 student presentation.
  • Hitchcock Industries, Bloomington: determined feasibility of using a fluidized bed system at this metal casting facility. 2008 student presentation.
  • Hitchcock Industries, Bloomington: worked on replacing sulfur hexafluoride at this metal casting facility. 2008 student presentation.
  • Minnesota Energy, Buffalo Lake: evaluated water saving opportunities for ethanol production. 2008 student presentation.
  • Twin City Die Casting, Minneapolis: reduce energy in use in facility. 2008 student presentation.
  • St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth: minimize hazardous materials by incorporating environmentally preferable purchasing protocols. 2008 student presentation.
  • Metropolitan Council, St. Paul: determine the efficiency of the current blower operation and how that operation could be improved with different controls or strategies in a wastewater treatment facility. 2008 student presentation.
