Healthcare Resiliency: Measuring Emissions, Managing Energy & Reducing Costs
The impacts of climate change are being felt around the world. It has been a summer of unprecedented drought, heat, flooding and wildfires. Record breaking temperatures have occurred across Asia, Europe and North America. Wildfires are burning above the Arctic Circle and California's wildfires are some of the worst recorded. Torrential rains have fallen in the American northeast, Argentina and Africa and the melting of Antarctica is accelerating faster than anticipated.
The healthcare industry is the nation's number two energy user and globally responsible for greenhouse gas emissions to equivalent to the world's 13th largest country. Healthcare has a tremendous opportunity to protect communities and lead in climate change mitigation and resilience. Progressive healthcare organizations are identifying Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emission sources (anesthetic gases are significant) and taking steps to reduce their emissions while saving money.
HEARRT Midwest invites you to join us to learn how to quantify your facility's Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, reduce energy consumption and minimize costs. Our Sept. 26 event will showcase what and how Minnesota's state agencies are doing to minimize their carbon footprint, provide an introduction to Practice Greenhealth's climate change toolkit, HealthPartners' greenhouse gas reduction journey and staff engagement tips from Michaels Energy.Register
